So I recently took a trip with my Nintendo Wii and was aghast when I got to my final destination and realized that I had completely forgotten my sensor bar. So remembering a couple of articles I've read since I've owned my Wii, I fashioned my own version of the Wii Sensor bar. It essentially consists of having two candles located on top of your TV. I essentially figured out from one of my quantum chemistry classes that if you have a white flame (IE something that is white hot, like a candle) it is not only emitting a series of visible light (what you see) but also a range of Infrared light (the stuff that a Wii remote feeds off of). Since I found out that this general principle worked, I tried using the candles separated at a variety of different distances, and that yields no performance loss. On a side note, the wii remote worked really well for this particular setup, I was getting high scores on my Link's Crossbow Training game while using it. To recap, if you are stranded w/out your sensor bar, use candles, they work miracles...
