Default Fed up with Tomb Raider controls, gonna build a wii gun...

Got a wii for my daughter and thought I'd see if there's any "grown up" games I'd like on it. (I'm the original atari pong generation)

I've always liked Tomb raider and lo and behld, there's a version for the wii. Gave it a try.
Not bad, interesting, but it takes some getting used to as I usually play TR on the PC.

But, as interesting as the wii-mote is, I want more. Lara uses .45's, why can't I use a gun to play the game?
So bought a gun for the wii, ebay knock off of the ol' longslide .45.
Popped the remote in, got ready to blow away bad guys,and..........

Boy, did it suck!

All the buttons were in the wrong place now except the trigger.

But it felt cool, the gun was awesome when shooting. Loads of fun. I just couldn't do anything else easily besides shoot.

So, the quest begins to build a better gun.

The plan:

Take 1 wii-mote, mix with one wii-gun holder, mix in some soldiering and plastic welding.

I'll hack up a wiimote and relocate the butotns to where I can use them on the gun.

The trigger stays the same.
The "A" button goes on the grip underneath my thumb.
The directional pad goes on the gun in the hammer area.
the "+", "-", "1", "2", and home buttons I haven't decided yet.

the sync button will be on the butt of the grip and the batteries will either be rechargables with a plug on the butt of the stock or replacables behind the grips.

Add a little weight here and there to balance it.

The Nunchuk will plug into the butt of the grip also.

Then smooth it all over to look like a real .45 and paint.

Now I just need to find an affordable wii-mote to hack up and some spare time.

Thoughts/opinions anyone?

Cheers

Not a bad idea.

I'm working on something to get a golf club attached to the wii-mote for the wii sports golf myself. Getting the wii-mote attached isnt an issue just redirecting the A button is.

when you work on your project post some pics of how its going for you im very interested.

Pics will come, all it would be right now is a wiimote and a wiimote gun adapter.

Need to find a reasonably priced wiimote to hack up first, and some time to do it.

I fly search and rescue in the CAF on the ch149 and have a house under remodel, so I'm usually kinda "busy"...............

Wiimote hacking is low on the priority list right now.

I'm also thinking of getting a pellet gun .45 or an "inerted" .45 for a bit of realism. But it'll probably just be easier to use the light gun adapter......
