Default Wiimote Multicolored A button / player indicator mod.

Well I did the multicolored A button mod on one of my Wiimotes. Changing the player indicator LED's on the bottom of the wiimote was easy, and I used standard 60mcd 0603 MCD LEDs and they were bright enough.

Doing the multicolored A button mod is pretty difficult. I am not entirely happy with the way it turned out. Routing some of the wires close to the +, home, and - buttons changes the feel of them (they become harder to press) so I have to find a different way to route those wires. And I was not happy with the brightness of the 60mcd led's, so I have ordered some 1206 SMD LEDs with a brighness in the range of 150-500.

Here is a pic of the results for now. Once I get the new LED's I will tackle this again and see if it is worth it.

Well, I got the new led's and they weren't any brighter, so I took out the multicolored A button mod. It didn't work the way I wanted and it was so much work that I wasn't about to do all 4 Wiimotes if I wasn't totally happy with the results.

So I ended up just doing the multicolored player indicator mod on all Wiimotes, and here's how it turned out. I really like this because it is easy. Infact, the hardest part is trying to get the Wiimote apart without breaking the little plastic clips at the front.
