Default what does smd 0603 leds mean?

I like to know what those numbers stand for.

and by any chance it telling you the voltage reading. I wanna change the leds for the disc slot and hope that they continue to be bright like the original with my preference of colour of course.

thanks for the help.

they are just a type of led what color are you looking to chage it to ? blue is 3.3 volts which is just about the highest for 0603 leds so changing colors wont be a problem ive learned that red isnt as bright as most people like, let me know how this goes as im looking to do the same thing change the color

smd = surface mount

Beware, the 0603's are really tiny.

what about a UV (blacklight) type of smd led? I know I've seen a mod with UV leds somewhere around the net.

SMD = Surface Mount Diode
LED = Light Emmiting Diode
0603 = refers to the size of the diode

samples.microchip.com lets you 'sample' the 12f629 or the '83 or almost an chip there.

basically, you pay nothing and they ship it for free.

They are so cheap its unbelievable......just buy some

I bought a strip of 10 of them (red) for like 2 GBP

Not played with them yet though. I have an old 10mbit hub I practised my soldering on. It has loads of SMD LEDs on it as well, so I will use it to practise desoldering them

One tutorial I read just had you using desoldering braid to remove the excess solder from each end then destroying the LED basically by holding the iron it and sliding it off the pads! (twas on www.wiimotemods.com IIRC)

I saw a nice tutorial for removing the drive LEDs
