Default Wiikey 2 with wii-clip questions...

I have a GC2-D2E chipset and after reading and consulting i´m kind of thinking buying the wiikey2+wii-clip.
Can i install it without making any soldering to my Wii?
Is this modchip really reliable?

All modchips are reliable, you may see the eject issue but most chips and most people also get it.
Provided your d2e is not one of the very new ones with epoxy on the chipset so you can't use a wiiclip then you should be fine.

However, I do not and will not ever condone and advise the use of a wiiclip. Can't beat a proper solder job, clips are horrible things for many reasons

I have to go with Roy I just installed wiikey2 with a clip and it was working but did not fit like I would like so I soldered it in and very glad I did.

YAY, I like being agreed with.
Did it by any chance not fit in the console properly. From what I've seen you need to hack it apart and remove the top cover to get it fit under the drive. Apparently the older consoles had deeper recesses inside

I have a Wiikey2 V1. On my D2C drive I need 9 wires soldering... I tried them a lot of time but I got always eject issue.

Yesterday I received Wii-Clip V14 and installed it 9 wires... IT WORKS GREAT!!!

I have not any kind of problem, eject issue too.

If you buy Wiikey2 V2 (6 wires) it is easy to solder, but wii-clip is more reliable.

Sorry mate but wii-clip is never and will never be more reliable. Solder jobs are permanent jobs when done properly. Wii-clips are for novices who don't want to solder. They do the job but are prone to problems

You are right... but for novice is easier to use wii-clip than solder on tiny chip that are present in Wii.
Maybe reliable is not the right term to describe Wii-clip... better term is "fast"

Thats better
Although I still HATE them with a passion, thats the problem with wiiclips, they are made so any tom dick or harry can chip a wii, only problem is, tom and dick are ok but harry happens to be an absoloute pleb and can't do it right and messes up everything he ever touches. Then harry comes on here when it doesn't work, posts a load of abuse at the chip and says this stupid thing dont work, we tell him to install it properly and harry says you all talk crap, can't be that! lol
In a nutshell!

Not that I am trying to insult anyone by any of that, any forum regulars will know what I'm talking about here.

I always recommend if soldering is too hard or you don't know how to, just learn and practice. Its a very handy skill to have, how many consoles have people here ever owned? How many people have paid someone to mod a console in the past? Wouldn't it be handy to be able to solder for future consoles you and your close friends may have. How many times have you had something electrical break down to something that can be soldered right, how many plug sockets have you twisted the wires together and sellotaped to fix? Get my drift, if you wanna mod your console, learn to solder and never have a problem and when you do get a problem, you'll be able to fix it yourself

Just did a D2E drive with a clip and wiikey2 and was working great when drive was open but when back together no drive functions would work.
After a long time looking into this problem it was the clip. If I put any pressure on the top down the red light would come on on boot then if I let of ever so slightly it would boot up right way. I soldered the chip with no clip and all is working now.
