Default First Wii Revision + Clip

Hey there, I have a first revision Wii since I bought it when it first came out. I have yet to mod the console. However, I've seen chips that like you add a clip to?

How does this all work?

Lets say I have a WiiKey 2, do I need to buy a clip for it? How does it all fit etc? I've also read that you need to cut-off some of the solder points on the chip for it to work on the first revisions?

Sorry for the question, any help would be awesome!

If you can solder, solder it in. You will have the easier style drive to mod most likely.

Clips do what you would expect, you clip them on the drive controller and thats pretty much it.
But they are known by most proper installers as very bad bits of kit and basically, what a noob would use, and then a lot of the time a noob will also have problems installing and create a thread on here.
Hence why most of us always recommend, if you have the facilities to solder it in. Then do!

Pretty much what he said. I had a Wii-Clip and found myself having to buy a brand new chip and doing a wire install. Just do a wire install from the start and there will be no problems.

If you have a first revision Wii then you can use a WiiKey which is easy to install (soldered or not soldered). I have seen them for as little as $14. You can also choose YAOSM which is free but requires some skill to put together or finding someone (plenty in this forum) who will do that for you.
