Just got a new Wii bought from Japan 3 weeks ago, s/n: LJH11484
Has got a D2C chip on board without batch numbers underneath

Decide to try my luck with a old D2CPro

After install, the machine works exactly same as before, boots originals and not booting backups. Tried another D2CPro chip but same result.

But when I read other ppl's post, it seems if they installed the chip in D2C2, it should not boot anything (not booting originals). So I got confused whether it's my installaion or is it a D2C2.

Anyone has experience about the behavior of D2C2 with D2CPro? Should it still boot original like nothing changed or should it not booting anything?

Please post pic of your Wii drive. AMX = D2C2, AWM = D2C.

When installing a D2Ckey to a D2C2 it will act exactly as it should (correct leds flashing at right times, different leds for backup/originals etc) but it will not boot the backups. Originals are fne. besides the backup not loading, by looking at the led activity you would think it was working.

However an Argon with original Wasabus (D2C) firmware will render the drive totally dead. Assuming the D2Cpro is a clone of the D2Ckey, what you are experiencing sounds about right for a D2C2 drive.

If its one line of text on the D2C then its a D2C2

Not true... D2C2s now come with two lines of text... I've had a few of these already. But still agree the original poster has a D2C2 mainly because of when he bought it.

This may not be feasible but try putting your d2pro on a clip and stick it in the drive to see if it will boot backups. If not, you have a d2c2 and should grab a d2pro9 v2 or wasabi 2. good luck.

just check if it says AMX on the dvd motherboard, then its a D2C2
