Corrupted banner (Icon or music for some channel installed) could cause the wii to crash. I'd suggest you try to use the "Wii Backup disc" on it if it has a modchip, to format the internal memory. It can be found at the typical places for "backups" and such (torrent sites)
I won't point you where to get it but you should be able to find it with google.
It's a Official Nintendo disc used to move saves from a broken console to a new one and it's also capable of wiping the console, causing it to return to factory default.
If your problem is a banner brick it will definitely solve the problem.
