Hey all!
Its been a while since I last was here checking the newz, and ive noticed that theres been many advances in the homebrew scene. After reading about some of the new developments im just a little confused as to what is working with what firmware version.
I believe my wii hasn't been updated since smash bros. I can't give you the exact version number because Im away and I don't have my wii with me. The current firmware version is 3.3 correct?? Last I heard it wasnt safe to take anymore updates cause they stopped the twilight hack and homebrew channel.
My wii also has a wiikey in it with frimware version 1.9s.
Is it ok to take the latest update? Seeing as how I don't have the homebrew channel installed, after the update would I be able to install it?
The update stops trucha signed content from working. This includes the Homebrew installer disk. It does not stop the Zelda: Twilight Princess hack however, so it is still easy to install Homebrew Channel IF you have Zelda for Wii (original or backup with a modchip).
Homebrew channel still works, there isn't much harm in upgrading unless you have modified disks (where you have modified the contents of a game eg).

Im debating now if want to loose the ability to read those games... I think I have a copy of mario cart in which the update has been removed. Do you know exactly what version stopped the trucha signed images from working? It might already be too late for me to save them lol... Ill try to get exact firmware version of my wii so I can compare...
