Just tried a great little homebrew media player app for the gamecube called mfe 2.0.
I mounted it onto the latest wii key config disk (See readme.txt) booted it up and roberts your farthers brother.
Tested it with some divx and xvid files on dvd+r and a DVD and all seem to run fine.
To run media from DVD just eject the boot disk when the app has loaded, insert your media then keep your finger on the L button to refresh the root dir. Then Select your file and press 'A' to play and pause.
The wii has just got even better, bring on the homebrew.
i downloaded the base 'mfe-boot.dol' file without any updates from the above link. placed it in the appropriate directory, and executed the *.bat file. it instantly created a 4.37 gig .iso file.
it seemed too easy, and kind of odd how it makes a wii-sized iso, not a gcn sized image.
the player itself is easy to use and played all the avi's i had on 3 random dvd-r's that were laying around. the only controls are play/pause and stop. not a very full featured player, but hey, its cool and works for now :P
unfortunately, it will not play off of cd-r's.
