Yes you can play DVDs but I think you have to play each individual vob file one by one unless there is a "play all" function.

I tried to play a dvd, and none of the vob files played. I think this app was mainly for avi playback as I can playback every since AVI on my dvdr discs but not really anything else.

Thats besides the point. I mainly just watch LaserDiscs, 8MM, and Bluray discs. But I still wanna see if my Wii can play DVDs just for the hell of it. Heck I only have 5 DVDs anyways as DVD wasnt an option I was really considering getting into.

That's exactly my point.. I have few dvd players lying around in the house.. and even If it did play regular dvd, I probably wouldn't use it to save unnecessary stress on wii's disk drive.. just wanted to find out if it does or not.

Yup, well it will not read my Dual layered DVDs at all, and one of my DVD movies (Stripes with Bill Murrey) is single layered and it WILL read the disc, but it looks very bad and crashes after about 3 min of being played back. Even when I skip the part that crashes it, it still crashes again in 1 min, so IMO after trying out my 5 DVDs I would hafta say, no the Wii doesnt play DVD movies. Im just gonna stick to watching Google Videos on it using the internet and perhaps sometimes watch a Divx file on it.

I'm having a little problem, mfe loads fine and plays all files on the disc it was on, but if I try to swap I get a blank directory every time after pressing R or L. I'm using mfe 2.0. Anyone else have this problem?

When you swap to another disc hold down (L) for a second or so until it unloads the disc info, then hold (L) again until it starts to load the new disc info. Then you can go through the folders on the new disc and pick whatever files you wanna watch.

Well I tried the version that comes with the wiikey disc and swapping works, I still can't get it to work with MFE 2.0. 1.6 works fine. Oh well.
