Well, I modded my Wii and I only wanted to do it once. I've uploaded some pictures to share. Included in this mod:
1) I installed the PulseVu Chip (This is pretty cool)
2) I installed a DB9 so I could plug in my choice of drive mod chips, and never have to open my Wii again!
3) And, I routed the wireless antenna to an external connector so that I could attach a high-gain antenna.
Right now I have WiiFree v2.29 installed via an external dongle and it works GREAT.
The schematic shows how I routed the external DB9 port to the inside of the Wii. I based the wireing on all the points I could identify from the differrent DVD mod chip install diagrams I could find at the time. This way I can make a dongle for every mod chip currently available (if I wanted, but WiiFree seems to be working fine for me). Purists will notice I skipped the reset-button wire from the cyclowiz install (solder point "Z"). It wasn't needed because if I want to disable my mod chip all I have to do is unplug it.
Hey can you post pics from the inside of the Wii of how you did the wireless antenna?
I really like that idea and want to try it out. Does your Wii get a wireless signal better now and also which wireless antenna did you use from the Wii?
I won't be able to help you much here. I didn't think to take pictures of the inside details of the antenna install. Honestly, I'm not sure if I get better reception yet. I'm sure I'll know once a WiFi game finally comes out for the Wii. I didn't really have an issue with my reception prior. I only did this since I was already under the hood.
For anyone who is thinking of using a DB9 connector to add an external dongle capability to your Wii, like in my pictures above, here is some important advice:
Install the DB9 Female connector to the Wii and use the DB9 Male connector for your dongle.
As you can see from my pictures above I did it the other way around and the result is that I recently bricked my Wii
The reason is with the Male DB9 on the Wii you have "Hot" pins exposed and just waiting to be shorted. This is what happened to me as I was fumbling around blindly trying to plug the dongle into my Wii. I don't want grief from you all that I should have unplugged my Wii before plugging/un-plugging the dongle. I know that and I'm paying for my carelessness.
All I know is that if the DB9 ends were the other way around this wouldn't have happened. Please learn from my mistake.

I found a pretty good article on adding an external antenna to your Wii. I wish I saw this before I did mine.
