I read from here that we can make bootable SDLoad disk that can load Dol files.
Also i found GC linux and GC linux distribution embeded with Mplayer (Yeah Media player)
So if someone can give a guide about how we can link those 2 things above (Disk SDload loader + GClinux_Mplayer_distro) maybe we will have a workable Wii media player. I don't know much about GC (don't own one) scene and i don't have Wii chip until now so i can't test anything.
Anyone help? If it works then we can recompile the latest GC linux with the latest mplayer to have the most recent player
Sorry about not posting links here but forum didn't allow me. There are insteresting links in links.txt attachment about finding the usefull files and instructions

There is a guide, under the "homebrew" section,
how to use mfe, with full DVD5 (maybe even dvd9 ?) support, on the wii.
Nevertheless you need to unlock the drive,
which is only possible via accessing the serial port directly on the wii.
does this method require to have the media files on the disk with the front end in the drive?
im not sure what exactly the guide is detailing, but itd be ideal if it acts maybe like a disc-swap solution in which one would insert a media player disc, which would boot up and reside in ram or sd card or something...then one would insert a regular DVD, or CD, or maybe a disc with other media files (if it can only be loaded from a external HD)...
You can do both,
-either create a disc with mfe plus a fews media files in it (bootable disc)
-or load a homebrew laucher first, a disc that loads gcos or sdload,
launch mfe with it and then swap it with the disc containing the media-files
If you want HDD support:
-become an offical developer
-write a mediaplayer with the sdk
-and get hold of a RVT-H ^^
