Default Sending in a hacked Wii for repair?

Hi all. I've got a bit of a problem that I'm wondering if anybody has any insight on. I've installed the Homebrew Channel on my launch Wii months ago, and never had a problem with it. Until one day when I tried to boot up and got a "The system files have been corrupted" error. I checked it up online and basically came to the conclusion that my Wii was toast. But I did learn that booting it up in maintenance still worked, and games still played and saved fine. At this point, I figured I had nothing left to lose, so I decided to go hogwild with the homebrew, and tried installing some backup launchers, just to see if it worked. And it did. Until a few days ago when now it won't even let me boot up to maintenance mode, it just goes straight to the corrupt error.

I've resigned myself to the fact that the Wii is gone now and that I might have to buy a new one. But I also thought about the cheaper option of just sending it in for repair. But what I'm wondering is what would happen. Can they take a look at what I did and just refuse to fix it? Or simply fix it but have everything wiped. I don't care anymore about any saves or data on the system, so it could come back blank for all I care.

Anybody have any experience or info on dealing with Nintendo about this? I mean, I figure there's nothing left to lose now, since if they choose not to fix it or send a new one... well it was toast anyways.

You'll have to pay to get it fixed (your warranty is long gone from it being over a year old and because it's modded). You'll also loose all your data.

I say just buy one on ebay.

Your best bet is to install a solderless modchip & use the rescue disk. You MUST have a modchip, though, because the rescue disk is considered a backup....your wii is no longer functioning as softmodded, so backups are out of the question until the chip is installed.

Here you go:

You look at the country you are in and decide whether that country is Japan or Usa. If you need help on which is which out of J and U, then my friend you are beyond help, lol
