Default Has it become a necessity to hack and add hbc to my wii?

I have a d2b model wii with a wiikey installed (solder). I am currently at 1.9g and 3.4u. I have only ever wanted to make backups and play online every now and again. I never felt the need to put the twilight hack or hbc on my wii but with all the updates, loaders, and now reading games not working without update that can only be done through the hack, I'm wondering if its becoming beneficial to go through it all. I'm really just seeking advice and opinions. I still will only play backups but I don't want to get stuck or worse bricked.

Has it become a necessity to add hbc/hack/etc...?
If I'm only playing backups will I be fine just to stay as is?

If you're only playing backups and sticking to your region and your games are not brickblocked (if you do them yourself you should know this) then yeah carry on as you are and just act ignorant to whats going on around, its all got a bit much now for noobs, so many apps and stuff. If you wanna try out some emulators and stuff then you'll need homebrew, literally only a 5 second job anyway if you ever do.
