Default Region Change

I've recenetly changed my NTSC-J Wii to PAL following this guide: Guide to Changing your Wii's Region and System Menu

I did this because I wanted English text in the menus and to be able to play my retail copies of GC games on my Wii. But unfortunately only some of them work and those which worked also worked when I still had NTSC-J. I thought all would work because I "changed" my region settings. Also, when I download homebrew applications, such as the Wii channel remover, I need to download the JAP version of it, otherwise, the app would not work. So on to my question: is my Wii really PAL or is it still NTSC-J? It could be NTSC-J because of the apps not working otherwise or it could be PAL because Mario Kart channel works and SMG works, which didn't work when I had NTSC-J

If you have a D2Pro9 then your problem is because of the region settings of the chip. After installed, it's going to set your region free settings based on the first disc that's inserted after it's installed.

For your case, that was most likely a japanese title. When you changed your system to a PAL system, your modchip still "thinks" it's a Japanese system and the region free settings are set for a Japan system.

I'm not sure if that's what it is, never experimented with changing my system's region, but I'm sure if I'm wrong someone else can (and will, lol) elaborate.

(Edit: Do this, go to your Wii system settings, and look in the top right hand corner, and tell us what it says, I.E. 3.2U, 3.2E, 3.2J, 3.3U, 3.3E, 3.3J, etc etc...)

I Changed my Jap wii into USA using the new Any Region Changer - that apears to be safer than wanikoko's app. Before i ran the wiikey update disk USA. Now, all games still working, but that wont working before, still not working. I turned off the Region Override settings in the wiikey config, and then only USA games loaded. My settings apears 3.2U. Using Any Region Changer you wont need to run the update disc, after finish you wii isn't semi-bricked.

Sorry about my english...

Everything has worked out, except for some of the PAL games doesn't work as I mentioned in my earlier post. I've recently updated my firmware to 3.3E and I have a Wiikey
