if the region of the game and the save file are the same it should work. You also have to create a game save first using the zelda game (you can't copy over game saves for games you have not played)
I have tried copying the right file and the game did have a saved file, I really don't know why the file won't copy. maybe my Wii memory is bad, I was going to format it but there is about 6 saved games that I can't backup

Ok there can be a few thing here. 1st you need to start up zelda enter in the name for link and epona can just be default walk around a few steps then quite the game. You then have to go into the Wii System management and delete the Zelda Save File. You then want to make sure you have the very latest version of the TP hack just encase your system menu is a 3.3. After you have deleted the original save file you should be able to copy over the TP hack.

there was a saved game on the system already, but the game had been completed, would that be the problem?
I did make a new saved game, but I didn't play any of the game. MAybe it's worth me playing the game for a little while as you suggest.
I'm not the only one with this issue, I've found loads of posts on differnt forums and also seen it in the comments on youtube, but I just can't find the answer to the problem.
BTW: I've tried versions Alpha 2, 3a and 3b.
Another thing to mention is that I first tried Alpha 1, and I messed around with it trying to get it to copy, before finding there was these updated version, I'm not sure if maybe Alpha 1 could have done something to mess it up? I don't think so tho.
