Sorry, I was going to add more to that but got distracted by shinies.

You don't need to downgrade at all, even to run trucha code. If you have HBC, you probably have the apps pack, which means you have the gecko loader. You can use Gecko Loader to bypass the trucha fix, because Gecko Loader can boot a disc on an IOS version that hasn't been patched yet (in other words IOS 36, the same IOS that HBC installs itself using)

Angry Downgrader is now needed.

With update 3.3 and a new patched 3.2 there is a need for downgrade bcuz i cant play injected wads since most of them are trucha signed. adn having the wii connected to wifi and wc24 sometimes makes the hbc channel go crazy. so a custom firmware or downgrader is needed.

I just remembered, anyone who uses a YAOSM Modchip v3 or higher has the option to disable mandatory updates that are on discs.

I can now play my Jap Brawl without it giving me dup channels.

Yes, I have US Brawl for my US Wii, but the Jap Brawl disc has 2 extra VC trials that the US Version does not have, plus I like to hear the characters in Japanese.

While this won't solve online updates, it will prevent forced updates on discs until we can sure it does not break any current homebrew exploits.

As I understand it, the game does not care what version the system menu is, it only cares that it has the proper IOS to run the game.

If the game requires an IOS that is not installed (not an update of an existing IOS), you could use the WAD Manager to manually install it, or if you can still use trucha discs, you could make a disc that will let the Wii install the IOS for you (like the semi-brick fix discs).

Oh, Rapfnny, what do you mean "patched 3.2"?

First i don't agree with this downgrader method But is it possible to downgrade from 3.3 to 2.1 (using the downgrader) and then using a newer game to update again to 3.1 or 3.2? All that just to be more "safe" and of course support trucha

How is this relevant? There's nothing "scary" here -- but if you hit "update" on your Wii, you will get two pieces of updated code that attempt to fix exploits:

* Updated version of IOS30 to block fakesigned discs
* Updated System Menu (3.3) that tries to delete the Twilight Hack

It would be safer to edit trucha signer to work again, but I couldn't do that.
... nor could anyone else. This is a meaningless statement. You can't "edit trucha signer" to make it work if the signature bug has been properly fixed (as it has been in IOS37, and now IOS30 and IOS31).

about the update: agreed, what i was referring to was all this talk about how downgrading would be such a horribly dangerous stupid thing to do, and if doing so would get Trucha signed things to work it might be a quick solve for those people with Trucha-discs now that the 3.3 compatible Twilight-Hack is up and going.

about the trucha signer: what you quoted was my response to "WiiModWiis" he mentioned that editing trucha would be best, I assumed it wasn't a possibility, but didn't know enough to call someone out on it, but I used that statement as a way to say that the downgrade from 3.3 to 3.2 could be easier to accomplish for many with the right tool.

hope that clears up where i was coming from. Just a bit of a discussion, I'm not trying to step on any toes.
