The way this thread is heading it's getting confusing....
So here's what I think is going on:
Old drive spindle + D2C chipset with lettering = moddable
Old drive spindle + D2C chipset without lettering = sometimes moddable
New drive spindle + D2C chipset with lettering = sometimes moddable
New drive spindle + D2C chipset without lettering = not moddable
Is this correct??
Thats exaclty what im wondering because my wifes uncle just bought his wii yesterday and im opening it up tomorrow to find out which chip i need for it and i dont want to buy a d2pro or w/e if its not gonna work in this thing. I wanna be sure before i spend the money on a chip whether its right or not.
Just did a D2Pro with Wiiclip on a console bought 4/20/08. Serial # LU 5641XXXX. Had numbers under the D2C letters. Worked fine first time. Seems like the 564 series serial numbers are good.
ive got a LU9000 any one got any idea if its moddable or not cause i dont wanna open it as yet
cause i sent my wii in for repair and i got it replaced with a new one
I dunno why people are worrying, it's apparent it's been cracked already (from D2Pro team, Infectus announced firmware but have yet to release more details)
Ozmod said he's recieving D2C2 (new name for these unmodifiable drives) compliant D2Pro's soon so be patient.
Infectus announced there will be no need for an Argon revision and new firmware should be out the end of next week.

they change your serial number when they do a repair, but if your DVD drive was fine then it should be the same as the original
