Wii Won't turn on :(

I have a friend who brought me his Wii that he failed to install a Wiikey. It is a DMS. However, the Wii is stuck with red light...none of the buttons are working. Any one have any ideas?

Looks like if I disconnect the drive, the Wii will power up. but with the pwr and ribbon connected..it won't turn on. I also notice a very faint clicking sound if I try to turn on the Wii with the drive connected. So it has to be something with the Drive. I check the fuses and it is ok. Anyone with any ideas?

Is the wiikey still connected to the wii? If so, what method did he use? Quicksolder? Wired?
Maybe you lifted a pad, or there's a problem with the wire?

Not on it anymore...I took it off and clean the area.

any other ideas?
