Sonic gems collection on wii

Question , has any body had any issues playing the sonic gems collection on their wii. Or may be I should be asking has anybody had any problems playing any other game cube disks on their wii system. I went and brought a good copy of sonic gems collection and tried to play it and it locked up just launching it and the sound was terrible. But when i play my wii games they are just fine. Just in case, I have a ntsc wii . And it is modded with a wii key and has the latest firmware.
