Default be careful

Dam the wiikey is hard to install. I had no experience and stupidly tried anyways. Don't do that. Luckily, I didn't end up damaging the Wii, but i think i did damage my wiikey.

I have to have someone take a look at it to asses the damage.

$35 in tools and a wasted $50 chip. Geesh. This mod is probably gonna cost me $85 too much. I would have gladly paid a professional to do it for me, but I live in the middle of nowhere. They should start selling pre-moddified wiis for a reasonable price, say $350. good for those who don't have a wii yet. However, many people are still paying that for unmodded wiis!

At least though i should be able to get at least $100 for the Gamecube this can replace.

Who is "they" in they should sell pre-modded wiis? You can buy pre-modded wiis, just not in stores(I hope thats not what you mean).

Oh and do you have a pic of the wiikey? It might not be too bad.

who sells pre-moddied wiis? I've looked at some of the modchip websites and so far they don't sell them. Those guys charge too much anyways. Someone should be nice enough to sell them somewhere, maybe advertise in this forum.

no i don't have a pic, I'm not opening it up again until i have someone with more experience.

I think Wiis need to be available in masse before people can start buying them and modding them and reselling them.

Well sooner or later your gonna have to take a pic so someone here that does repairs can tell you if it can be fixed or not.Otherwise you send it to someone and they either fix it or tell you it cant be fixed and send it back to you and you loose out on shipping.

First off if u looked at the install and thought it looked too hard u shouldnt of even attempted it...

Second if your wiikey is damaged by u trying to install it no worries as wiikey say they will change it

"Unlinke many others we assure that we will replace any faulty/damaged chip for our users even if it obviously was an user error. Please send any faulty chips back to your dealer. Your local dealer will for sure get a replacement"

U will be able to find out if they stand by there RMA Policy wont u ...

They is a few on here who will not be a million miles from where u live where u will have to send by post and get your chip installed...

So wait, you messed the wiikey up and left it in the Wii? That could cause any number of problems if it causes a short. If you damaged the wiikey take it out.

I can't remove it. I don't have any desoldering tools. I'm pretty sure there isn't any serious shorts, as everything is working fine. my original copy of Excite truck plays for example. That's awesome if i can get a new chip, do i have to pay for shipping both ways?

No I don't have to have it sent out or anything. All i have to do is bring it up to campus and have some electrical engineering or electronic enthusiasts friends look at it.

the wii is slightly less sexy now without the little white covers over the screws. Wish i could get new ones of those. I guess that problem will be solved when i eventually get a case mod.

It can't be that hard to get a Wii, some people have been reselling hundreds of them. The supply/demand problem was supposed to be gone by now. If people would just stop buying them, they would be forced to put out the new colors, then more people would want to buy them.
