At least you don't have to reset the rest of the wii. next time, disable those features before disconnecting the battery, if you ever need to open your wii again. I already made this mistake 3 times, haha.
This has happened to me twice, despite disabling Wiiconnect24 before removing the battery. It also ruined the News channel (haven't found a cure for this yet, but a system format will probably fix it).

Everybody votes will also work again if you wait until the days have elapsed, so that might be an option for those who want to keep their data and don't mind waiting.

Wiizard if the only problem with your News is it says can not download data, and you dont get the Wiiconnect 24 error, you will have to do a system format. This happened to me. I turned off everything before I modded, and only the news channel was messed up. I tried multiple things to get it to work, and finally had to backup my saves and Miis, and format. After that everything was perfect. I did not have to do any of the power tricks to format that I have seen... just a normal format. If you have VC games, dont bother saving them to an sd card... it takes a long time, and if you do just a normal format... do not delete your nintendo store data (one option when formating) you can redownload them.

Default Fried GPU

I'm pretty sure my GPU is cooked. I began to notice graphic "glitches" one day and after looking on the web determined that my GPU overheated. There seems nothing can be done except return it to N to replace.

I am afraid of doing that as they could replace my Wii with the newer unmoddable ones. The graphic problems are livable and show up more on certain games with certain colors, but just want to warn everybody to turn the Wii off at night and not leave it on standby.

Only problem I've experienced was during Resident Evil 4: Wii edition. I was in the farm with Ashley, then it just froze. Wiimote was still in sync with the system, and could resync with the system (odd). Only happened once. The Wii is never left on standby for more than 10 minutes, always unplugged after use.

Why don't you just disable standby?
