Default Bump and Post Limit in BST/Installer/Market Sections

I have seen a lot of posts from the same people selling numerous products under seperate posts. I have also seen daily or more frequent bumping of posts, which does nothing but spam them on the forum. I see no point in bumping if your post is already at the top, or top few.

What does everyone else think about restricting the number of bumps? With such a small amount of listings in each forum it seems pointless, especially since they add no relevant information.

I think it should be limited to no more than 3 or maybe add some type of system where the person can make a small donation to the site to have their thread as a sticky for so many days. I do this on another forum that I run for DSS stuff. A users will pay a small donation usually only $1 for a 7 day sticky.

That is a good idea - I was thinking of perhaps a time-sensitive bump thing, like what howardforums does, but maybe one or two a week, since the volume is so low in those forums. It just doesn't make sense for someone already on the top 5 on the page to bump to be number one, we can all see it just as easily...

I'm not a fan of bumping and I'd like the thought of it to go away completely, but I know most of the people who create the threads wouldn't want that so 1 every week or 2 would be fair in my book.

Yeah, bumping your thread just for the sake of bumping, without adding any new information is pointless.

Unless your thread has made it to the second page where very few people are probably going to look, there is no reason to bump.
