Burning The Midnight Oil...
Lucky for me I live near an 24 hours Tim Hortons.
So I grabbed a big pot of coffee, and start the FINAL task...
The big one. -- You think the SQL database was alot....
Nothing, compare to the 16,228 file attachments make to all those posts users have done, helping others by supplying the world with their latest works, problems, etc.
I finally tracked them down on the old host by searching thru the SQL database and finding the "attachpath" and "attachurl".
God, they where buried in all places in the /tmp directory with different folder tree for each user id, nuts, over 5,174 different folders containing the 16,228 attachments, so I tar it all up, transfer it over to my backup server.
Then the task of putting it on the new host along with the already uploaded clean and check php code for the forums, etc.
Some more coffee and hair pulling, for some reason I could not do a site to site transfer between my backup server and the new host even tho they are right next to each other in the same datacenter, and nor could I transfer from the old host to the new host either, so I ended up dumping from backup server to my home pc and now I am uping it back up to the new host box from my home pc. --- Ugh. Finally...
But I only have 1meg up, (sucks I live in Rogers Monopoly land), so it will take a few hours to up 3gigs to the new host, but it is ticking along and it is almost 5am in the morning here, so time for some breakfest and once this final transfer is completed, I will copy over the main index.php stuff over, and BANG will should be back in business, cross my heart, spin around eight times, click my heels twice, and cross my toes and fingers, and make sure I am wearing a tin hat, and all that super-geek stuff you got to do to bring up a new host box, does not help to have a hammer to throw at your 32 plasma PC monitor if it brings up an 404 page or forum crash message.
Take care all, and with luck this will be my last update on return of psx-scene. So ends my blog of my last 5 hours of staring at scrolling shell text.

P.S. -- By the way when I was bored during those 5 hours waiting for transfers to be completed, I decided to go thru and fix up the 4,156 pointers in the SQL database still pointing to the old domain of "ps2-scene.org" so various old threads and posts referring to other info will work again if you are an history buff and/or is researching something on "psx-scene", plus I been looking at the various "subdomains" that used to be hosted on "psx-scene" but where never setup back up after the last move, but looks easy enough to do, except some of those old sites are little outdated, but that is another project to handle once the main beeswax is done and ready and running.
