now that is some damn good news. and on a side note, I didn't realize that the forum's database had that much of a fat arse.

Default DNS slowly changing...

Various people should be able to see the default blank page now, as the DNS computers are updated around the world.

The forums will be back online within 48 hours, no data has been lost, I am just going thru them with a finetooth PHP checker to make sure there is no errors and any leftover DoS attack code left behind from the old server which was pulled offline by the previous host due to one of the sites hosted on there was used to launch DoS attacks, but so far from looking thru the backups I doubt "psx-scene" was the host or target, and it was one of the other sites.

It took a while to setup everything on the new server, which we decided to supply to xiaNaix for "psx-scene", and took even longer to get into the old host and backup all the forums and the whole SQL database, what a mess.

Tonight after a busy day at work here in my little hideout in TO, I will finish importing the SQL database and bring the forums online for everyone to use.

Sorry there is nothing to do on the "returning soon page", I thought about leaving a comment blog, etc. like "xbox-scene" did when they went offline for a bit, but it got crazy on there with some of the comments, and I have no time right now to mod that, as my effort is in getting "psx-scene" back up in full stable and useable order with 100% no lost of data, posts, attachments.

I thought I quickly update everyone while I wait for another x360 to appear out of the reflow oven, before I get back to my busy workload.

Take care all, and hope to see you all soon on the new, stronger, faster, bigger, powerful, larger than life, great return of the famous "psx-scene".

Just seen your post on this at SKSApps.

sorry about it not showing up, but that is the spam guard doing it's thing. it usually does it to new members with a post count less than 10. Your post has been brought out of moderation there.

And much appreciation goes to you on bringing psx-scene back.

Default Import of Database now underway...

Didn't have a chance to import the database last night, but it is slowly importing now.

I had to go back to the old_server and redump the postindex as i was missing parts and having problems linking the posts together.

But got it all now, the full "postindex" uncompressed is 1.2gig of data with 14 million records.

That's alot of forum messages over the many years of the "psx-scene" world.

Don't hold me to it, but if everything goes nice today, and I don't have shit to do tonight (sunday here in TO), you might be able to see/post in the forums again..

Weee... We are almost there...

P.S. xiaNaix just reminded me via MSN, to double-check the attachments, they were a problem before in the last move, so I going to check them after the import is completed.

wow. and a while before the site went down, I removed somewhere around 2000 to 3000 moderated, and soft deleted posts. I guess I didn't even make a dent on removing some bloat.

Default Database import completed.

Database importing is finally completed, and all SQL enteries matched up and working, wee 14 million records, i had to use a neat little program called "BigDump" (even tho it is for importing), to allow the system to import all the 1.2gigs of records without timing out or crashing admin mode of phpmyadmin, neat little script, I think I am going to click on the "donate" button for it and give the author some cash because it sure is handy, you just ftp the dumps a folder on the new server, run this script on your browser and it chops, imports, pickups the pieces, moves along, and does everything you just can't close the browser window.

Had a problem with the "external cache" table, needed again go back to the old_server and repair that table, and export the data, and then import the fixed table on the new host, so now the search functions seem to work.

Going home now, worked long day even on a sunday, then after dinner with the wife and kids, etc. i will get onto the final changes on the forums php coding so it runs 100% on the new server, and check to make all the attachments have been saved and upload and working, that is 8 gigs of files now going up to the new box from my backup server where i quickly dump everything incase the old host went offline 100%.

So with luck, and no more hair pulling (xiaNaix joke about that once to me, if I been pulling my hair), but I have been pouring lots of pots of coffee down.
