Deeptrap, yes there is. A spi addon was being sold on a couple sites to make the argon 9 wires. However, I have never found a need to go past the 13 wire version.

only a little info... if you are searching a CHEAPER ACTEL "A3P" FAMILY programmer... there is "INJECTUS"!!

Yeah, the infectus team programmer is infact a real ACTEL programmer.

So if you need them to check new D2PRO and D2CKEY codes, just go here to buy them:

Programmer has on the back of PCB 5 pads where you can solder the 5 JTAG wires... is easy than to build an adaptor to programm the modchips in a easy way.

Yeah,

infectus PROGRAMMER software allow programming of standard .DAT actel files..

Same procedure like you use to update ARGON or INFECTUS!

I think the D2pro and argon uses almost the same source code. de different between the argon and d2pro is that the d2pro has a Oscillator on the chip and thats what is missing on the argon, thats why you need the D spot with Argon (SPI version) on a 6-7 installation wire)

ummmmmmm........no.....argon don't use the same code as d2pro......they "emulate"....multiple codes from wiikey, d2pro, d2ckey and the wasp chip.
In other words, a lil mixture of sugar, spice and everything nice with a touch of BAM!!!.....lol

Also....you don't necessarily need an oscillator to reduce the number of wires for a chip. Take for example, the D2E-A9 chip....the 32 pin version use a converter, not a oscillator, same goes for the A9+ too.
That is just my two cents here.

i Got 1 D2E-A9 in the past causes also my first fried PCB and did a lot others for these , worked 3 days, and after that the d2e was fried, lots of pads where turned brown, never used a chip like that kind anymore.

That can only happen two ways....
1. you didn't tin and clean chip points and board points properly
2. or you didn't clean all the flux out the board and the voltages and signals became dirty and fried the drive cause this happens to all chips.....not just the A9
