Having the same issues with all modchips DriveKey, Sun Key Lite, and Wii Key 2 on a modded D2C PAL console with 4.2 installed. PAL copies work fine, NTSC games don't work.

Seems that Nintendo have blocked the region-free support on modchips. Can anyone else confirm?

Yeah we can confirm the below chips no longer support all region on a console updated to 4.2 as well.

DriveKey
Wasabi DX
WiiKey 2
WiiKey

Funny thing is we had someone email us that had consoles updated to 4.2 with DriveKey, WiiKey 2 & an older Wasabi solder in chip, he claims the Wasabi works still but the DriveKey & WiiKey 2 didn't, we are still talking with him to make sure it's not a mistake. We are trying to get an older Wasabi chip to test, if anyone has one installed and updated we would love to hear if it's working or not.

That's not a problem with the chip, it's a problem with your Wii after doing that update, it sounds like you have a chip without a brickblocker and you have semi-bricked your Wii.

If you can't access the Wii system settings after accepting a system update, you have most likely accepted an update from a game not from your consoles region and semi-bricked the machine.

Have a look on www.savemii.net and they have examples of the different bricks.

So having learned what we all know so far about the 4.2 update proving unhelpful for mod-chips. Has anyone been lucky enough to update to 4.2 (and have bootmii/HBC work arounds) and later restore a nand backup to a previous system update for example 4.1?

Then are your out of region or same region backups working? (chip functioning as expected)

i picked up a few other asian games from a friend, and weirdly the games worked fine on the 4.2 system.

Its quite weird whats going on, but there is little doubting the number of reports now on the net saying overseas games no longer work once you update to 4.2

Unhappy Wasabi Zero stumped by 4.2u update

Wasabi Zero no longer working after 4.2u update. Doesn't matter if region free is on or off, and all games are local to console (US console with US games).

Original games still play fine though, only backups not playing. I don't have any original non-US games.

I suspect ALL modchips affected by this update.

Well, I hope that any of the mod-chips creators comes up with an update so we can get region free again.

It is highly unlikely that any fix for this will be released.
