The Sunkey team have announced the Sundisk 16gb, which is basically a Sunkey chip with a 16GB SSD for loading ISO files. Here is a video showing the load speed of Sundisk (left) vs. Sunkey (right).

Timing their SSD solution, it takes about 35 seconds. My USB Loader takes about 33 seconds (Western Digital 2.5" harddrive).

Of course, either way, standard deviation is probably about +/- 1-2 seconds so I would say that they were virtually the same. Is SSD really necessary? Nope. Either is definitely faster than discs. And without the noise.

I can see an advantage in a system like this, in that it can launch titles with the proper IOS etc...

That said, the hdd loaders are pretty solid.
