Back in the day when BackUp Loader was first released I tried installing it on my Wii, no luck. I got an error 1017, but my Modchip came in a few days later so I didn't worry about it. Then I tried installing ti just for the heck of it and still didn't work. Now I really want to install it for this but I am getting the same error.

I have tried installing on 3.2/3.3 and I am now on the "safe" upgrade to 4.0. I have a D2Pro9 v3, CIOS 37 rev3 and DVDX installed. Why am I still getting this error?

I have a Wii with 3.4E and HBC. when I tried to install the IOS36_64_V1042.WAD, I got error message in the end: >> downloading ticket...ERROR (ret=-1)

I tried network install then, still same problem. any idea?

Edit: Don't worry, I figured it out.

Do we still need the game disc(s) in the Wii drive to play from USB like on a XBOX 360 external HDD? I'm new to this stuff on the Wii! Thanks!

I installed and it is definitely working. However, sometimes it seems like the games get stuck. Not sure if that has to do with the loader or my hard drive. I put 3 games on the drive so far 1 works fully, 1 starts up and lets you choose options then hangs, and 1 doesn't make it past the white make sure your wiimote leash is on screen. The fact that it is working at all is giving me a woody! Awesome stuff!

Thanks,

I'm just getting error 1017 messages when trying to install the cIOS just like Cheez from a few posts up above. I installed a cIOS way back in the day, not sure which revision, but this revision should write over the old one. Tried both the network option and the manual wad install option, but still get that 1017 error. Any advice? Wii is currently 3.2U

I have installed the System Menu 4.0 with Waninkoko's Updater 4.0 following the "tutorial" with cIOS36 rev8 pre-installed. Can I simply update to cIOS36 rev9, or should I uninstall rev8 first? I'm worried I will not be able to install cIOS36 again.

I am also on 4.0 using Waninkoko's Updater, and I installed cIOS36 rev9 over cIOS36 rev8 and everything is still functional.

Update:

Okay, for anyone getting error codes during installation of the cIOS check this out, http://fathertom.net/hardwii/picture...rror_codes.pdf

Now, I don't totally agree with this b/c 1017 refer's to a corrupt installation file, I deleted it and re-tried numerous times. Still nothing, but....I decided to upgrade my Wad Manager from 1.1 to 1.3, and tried to install the wad and it installed. Not sure if it'll work yet, still have to format an extra hard drive and test it out.

Cheez, you had the same 1017 error code, why don't you try using Wad Manager 1.3 to install the wad file, just make sure it's in a wad folder, I don't think it uses the root of the SD card like Waninkoko's cIOS installer does, let me know your results.
