iso loader: load iso file from media (harddisc or whatever) with no need to burn it.

backup loader: load a burned backup of a game (it doesnt matter if its patched or not).

so from what i read this seems to be definitely a backup loader, not an iso loader.
though i do really hope that i am wrong :-)
You are wrong.
An ISO loader loads ISO files. It's not that difficult

Still it makes no difference to me if I burn an iso image on a dvd and load it or if i burn an iso file in file mode on a dvd and load it. in general people think of an iso loader of some tool that can access media with multiple isos on it (e.g. memory card, hard drive, network). this seems not the case here, although the problem might be the lack of a library to access a hdd via usb and not wanikokos tool itself

There is an ISO loader being worked on by another group of people.

Real great breakthrough will be when somebody will able to write real ISO loader. From USB or WiFi.
Currently, i just use my WiiKey to load backups. I even didn't install any wiibrew channels. I just want to play wii sometimes. All these hacks are for geeks.

But ability to load games from some big storage, i think, is attractive for everyone who has Wii (including me, of course).

I know this is off topic, but I find it funny when people say they will support this. Like that makes all the difference. Because they project had no chance of success, but now that they support it, it will succeed 100%!

@olliee:
well, its obviously not that easy, is it?
because that "iso"loader does not load an iso, it loads a patched burned backup from disc, not the iso file.

if you look at the video even wani calls it a backup loader :-P

iso loader is completely wrong in that case.

Well actually, judging from the movie, I'm guessing that a regular ISO file was simply burned on to a dvd. Not is an image, but simply as a file.
I'm speculating this because it first reads to file to determine the name of the application. So I'm guessing that it's actually loading an ISO.

Seriously.. why would they call it an ISO loader if it doesn't load ISO's?

Sorry if this shatters any expectations or undermines thousands of questionable applications out there, but ISO is nothing more than a format standard, much like A4 (Letter) is for paper. A disc can be ISO format, as well as the image file on a hard drive.

What I'm trying to figure out is if USB gecko is used when he send data from the PC.

not to mention that if you look at the video the application is definitely calle "BACKUP LOADER", not iso loader.

Let's spend all day arguing over what to call it.

It does not load the currently available backups without patching so it could really be called either.
