Wii Wii System Menu Hacks

Crediar has managed to hack the Nintendo Wii's System Menu in various ways to allow some cool stuff to be done including:
Quote:
* No healthwarning (the blackscreen is the time it needs to load the channels)
* region free Wii games
* region free GC games
* region free channels
* start the build-in rescue menu when Y is pressed on the first GC controller
* rescue menu patch to boot everything not just diag-discs
* No mainmenu BGM

more to come

Cool, but why would you take away the main menu BGM?

"a part" and "apart" are two different things....They are both a part of "Team Twiizers."

If someone can create a GREAT installer for this, it could be amazing!

The installer would need to:
  • Intelligently modify Ninty code (no legal issues)
  • Check the version of the Wii and apply the correct fixes or halt installation
  • Check for updates - so if Ninty releases an update, a few days later we can have our custom menu's again
  • Download the patch files directly, so that one .elf installer file will work forever (or for a long time!)
  • Allow people to choose options so they can customize it

What do you reckon, am I dreaming, or could this happen?!

What exactly happened at the end? He went into the homebrew channel, it talked to his PC via LAN, then loaded SSBB? Is it just me or did he load an ISO via LAN? I'm not entirely sure as I've not gotten around to loading the homebrew channel and messing with it, but I believe it does not support ISO loading, and never will - at least the authors have spoken out firmly against it iirc.

Thats what i thought too, but his youtube video under his account he explains what he is doing. Using the recovery menu to boot the JPN brawl, also showing off the region free capabilities.

Ah, interesting. This could be problematic for the homebrew scene though as you now basically have a softmod for pirating. Twilight hack -> System Menu Hack -> Load ISOs.

No, that's not correct. This only boots ORIGINAL imports.
