This isn't the end of Freeloader, etc, there will be a fix for this, give it time.

I've heard that preinstalled wads still work and if hbc is preinstalled you can even install new ones. Is this true?

Yes, hbc works and any official wads work, not ones signed with trucha however.

The problem lies in that there is no way to install the hbc if it were to go wrong. I recon nintendo could easily create an update that removed the hbc, so dont update!

I was thinking that downgrade video method could be used... but then I thought oh shit yeah truncha got patched.

The same kind of TP hack wont work, if a game has poor security when it comes to naming characters it still wont work. I'm pretty sure nintendo was smart enough to do checks on all save files and not just the TP save.

Well if you already updated there is hope. As long as you have the homebrew channel installed, a possible downgrade file could be run from that.

Without the homebrew channel, all other exploits have been sealed, so you will just have to wait. There will be another way, its just a matter of time.

Scrubbed image do not use trucha-signing, and they will definetly work forever, because only trash-data is thrown away !

No, wiiscrubber does not sign anything (if all you do is use it to scrub, it can do other things now).

All it does is find "noise" and replace it with 0's so it can be compressed better. It does not need to sign the image as it didn't really change anything apart from empty space.

Short answer - it will still work!

I was under the impression that the Datel Freeloader disc uses the same entry method as the trucha exploit, does this mean that Freeloader has stopped working as well?

I don't use it myself, but it would suck for all those people who went out and bought it to play brawl...
