Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I was hoping one of you guys could maybe help me with a question or two.
I'm currently researching a way to extract and process data from the Wii for my senior cyber forensics project. This tool seems to be just what I need, but I need a way to verify that nothing is written to the file system during the copy (EDIT: Is there a way to MD5 the file system before dumping?). Also, I need some way to verify that it's not hiding anything either.
The reason I'm researching this is because there really aren't any good methods for extracting data from Wiis. Right now, the established method of data extraction is to sit there with a camera and take pictures of each screen. I'm hoping to establish a method that will speed that process along a little bit.
There have been a small handful of cases involving the Wii and child predators/child porn, so I'm hoping to get this tool out and available for law enforcement officials soon (for free of course, since it's not my code). Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
