Wii WiiSystemmenu wadpatcher

Superken7 has posted an app for patching WAD files to remove IOS37's Trucha blocking. Here is a translation of the original post on ElOtroLado...
Quote:
Hello everyone

Here is my small contribution

for the lazy
this tool patches the updated wad that prevents the loading of ISOS patched by trucha signer.
This tool patches the .WAD in the systemmenu in particular the WiiSystemmenu-vXXX.wad.

initial problem:
in a short amount of time nintendo through media updates issues the famous IOS37 which prevents isos from being loaded that were previously patched with trucha signer.

Solution:
To stop this and because there is no other tool like this, i have taken a few days to create a wadpatcher. You can patch your wiiSystemmenu and subsitute it with one compatible with trucha signer so we can once again load our isos. I mainly did this so i can play mario kart without issues. At the moment i have tested it with Naruto Clash of the Ninja Revolution PAL and it works.

Usage:
Useage is very simple: Basically we have to extract the RVL-WiiSystemmenu from your update partition using trucha signer (it's in your _sys directory),patch the archive with the wadpatcher and place the patched version back into your iso. The wadpatcher will notify you of what version the iso has before patching and will allow you to use another version (I recommend 30). Sorry, this does not directly patch the iso, i did this in a very short amount of time and i am busy with my exams. Eventually i may make a new version that will auto patch but for the moment, you need trucha signer.

If the linux binary gives you problems, then simply compile your own. All you have to do is use the makefile in the archive. If the binary doesn't work you can also optionally try the command: apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev

Greetz:
Special thanks to Waninkoko for the tools
xt15 for the motivation
also thanks to Kap and togashi
Thanks to L.A. Park for the translation!

as the author of this tool, i think you should add the following to the translation:

ONLY USE THIS TOOL IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, ENTERING AN IOS VERSION WHICH YOU DONT HAVE INSTALLED WILL EVENTUALLY BRICK YOUR WII.

thanks,
=D thats all

Got a question...
asumming that the ios37 update will be on mario kart, can i play the original?
and after that still play trucha disks?
or do i need to make a backup en patch mario kart with this tool to prefend this from happening?

assuming MK Wii implementes IOS37, you will not be able to play the original without trucha-fixing your wii.
(i hope this does not happen to us!)
In this case you would have to backup the game and patch it :P
For patching it there are 2 options:
1. remove update and patch with IOSPatcher, but that removes the update, and maybe the new channel
2. patch with wadpatcher so it uses another IOS version, which must exist in your wii. There is a very small chance that the new systemmenu uses something only present in IOS37, and that *might* brick your wii. But thats unlikely, i will take that risk

However, if the game does not implement IOS37, you could still bypass the update by using freeloader (not 100% sure, but if your wii is up to date, it will most likely work)

And after doing the modified update from the backup can i play original then if its using the ios37?

Did you do any updates to get to IOS37 or not. If you remove the update, then the original should prompt you to update. If you did the later, then if you don't have IOS37, it should prompt to update to IOS37, but the rest of the update for the wheel or whatever other random stuff would have already been applied. Thats how I read the release notes.

Any agree/disagree?

Honestly im not sure about that.
but i think you might be able to play. It would be a matter of testing whether it asks you to update or not. maybe. (if everything went correct it should not ask you, and just use ios37) .

How is this different to Waninkoko's IOS Patcher in terms of functionality?
