Wii Wii Duplicated Channel Remover v2

waninkoko has released a new version of his tool for removing duplicate channels from your Wii menu.

Quote:
- Use the specific version for your Wii. Use the version for another region will remove the real channels.
- v2 works even if v1 has been used before.
- This remove channels completely and should avoid bricks if you update your Wii.

Btw: it does not work with the homebrew preview channel (tp uses IOS 36, the channel uses 35).

Removes the channels completely allowing your forecast channel to work properly. Use it just like the previous versions.

This does actually remove the channels because after I used it, (I used the previous version before), when I pop my JAP Brawl, it wanted to perform an update which it did not want to after using the first version.

Gook Work.

Really?
Does this mean it could somehow be used to fix a bricked console? (Perhaps by deleting the US channels, and running the NTSC SSBB update again)

I don't know all about bricked consoles but if you bricked your console by updating your Wii to a newer version of system firmware of a different region you're not just dealing with a couple of channels. I would imagine at some point it would be possible to back up your system firmware and then flash it back later. Maybe you could use somebody else's firmware (either there's nothing unique about yours or the flasher could carry over your unique info.)...

So do we just burn the corresponding ISO to your region and stick it in the wii? What are the .elf files for?

Also, if I try to play my JAP Brawl after using this, will it reinstall the channels?

If I'm not mistaken, bricked consoles are usually fixed by installation of a newer firmware of the correct region.
I'm simply wondering whether a reinstallation of the current firmware version (which apparently could be initiated after deleting the channels) could also repair it.

Edit: Could anyone verify that the local channels would be reinstalled after another update?

if all it takes to unbrick a console is newer software, it wasn't really bricked to being with. People are overusing the term. bricked would mean completely useless and can't be fixed without hardware modifications or something.
