Default N64 won't power on

Today I found my 64 in the attic with my games and I thought I might as well play it instead of downloading them on the wii. Well the system wont power on and it's buging the crap out of me because I cant open it because I don't have the correct screwdriver. Anyone have any ideas on where to find one or any DIY tips?

Before ya go opening your N64, it could just be your power supply has gone faulty, why not try borrowing one if you know someone with a N64, or even buy one online like here, Video Game Accessories | Nintendo 64 | Other N64 Accessories | Nintendo 64 Power Supply / AC Power Cord | 8-Track Shack | Vintage Music, Media, Players, Radios, Video Games, Consoles, 8-Track Tapes, Records, Cassettes,Films & Accessories For Sale and if still doesn't power on you can always ebay it so you're not stuck with two.

(edit: wow...that link looks crazy...lol)

N64's are notorious for frying easily.
They kill themselves if you look at em' wrong.

Honestly, a new N64 nowadays only costs about 6 bucks if you've already got the cords.
I've got 4, actually.
All working.
All but one modded in one worthless way or another.

if you do end up opening it the melted pen trick should work well on the N64.

You can also try checking the expansion/jumper pak and see if it is plugged in well.
As for the statement about N64's breaking easily this claim is false. There power surge tolerance is good, its actually much better than the ps2's that have a tendency to blow there motherboard fuses.

The N64 is robust and shouldn't fail, they are robust. Even if you are doing modding work, as long as you are fairly careful, you should be fine.

Quite likely the power supply is faulty.

N64's are very cheap to buy these days, worth getting a replacement. I live in the UK, from car boot sales you can buy them for about £4 including power supply.
