Wii Gamecube ports....Are they exactly like original Gamecube ports?

Has anyone out there heard of compatibility problems with Joysticks from 4gamers.net running GameCube games on the Wii? I have an brand new (classic gamecube console) flight stick. It has every button and the pad that a traditional gamecube controller would have and more. No lights, no detection, nothing. It is as if the thing isn't even plugged in. Every other controller I have works great... Wired and wireless.

Let me re-phrase this question. Has anyone seen a controller known to work on a genuine GameCube console fail to work at all with the Wii?

I have a "InterAct Super Pad Pro" and have no problems with it... and I dont think there would be any problem with other custom controls thinking that the Wii is a GCube with steroids xD
