Default Gamecube powersupply with wii

If I can get the gamecubes plug to fit into the wii, will it work? The output is the same on both bricks, but has anyone done this? I just dont want to break my wii.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a GC power supply so I can't say for sure. However, on the brick it should show both Voltage and Amperage in the output. Amperage is much more important, too much and you'll fry, too little and it won't run properly. If they are very, very close values you can probably get away with it. Your choice, risk a $200 wii or spend $20 on a new supply ;-)

well, I just checked again, and the voltage is the same, but the aperage for the gamecube is 3.25 and for the wii is 3.7. Is that too much? .45 of a difference.

DON'T plug it in, it doesn't work and might break your Wii, or even worse, it can make the power brick catch fire and burn your house.

That is too much difference. Do not use it.

If the output voltage is the same and the amperage is greater, than you should have no problem.

Amp rating is a maximum that the power supply can handle, if the wii's bigger, GC will run fine. If I still had my cube, I'd test it out myself.

By the way, is the connector the same?

Amp is smaller in the GC supply, and the supply itself is slightly smaller. And yes they have the same connector, I remember someone trying it when Wii came out, it didn't work.
