Default I bought a soft modded Wii off Ebay. (homebrew help)

I did not know until I received my Wii in the post that it has already been soft modded with the Homebrew Channel, Gecko, and Ocarina already installed. I am not sure what Gecko and Ocarina do, but I'm pretty sure the Homebrew channel is to play roms.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to play roms and if I need to use the Twilight hack, even though Homebrew is already installed. Is my Wii ready to go; can I just pop a DVD with roms on it? I am still waiting on controllers to arrive in the mail, so I can't mess with it just yet.

I have a micro SD card adapter and Wiikey SD adapter. If you could please tell me how to play roms or direct me with a link to useful info I would be most grateful.

I am also waiting on my Wiikey 2 to arrive and it doesn't look too complicated to install and set up.

Gecko OS lets you play import games and block updates. Ocarina is for cheats. Homebrew channel is for launching homebrew apps off your SD card. At this point, you don't need the twilight hack.

You can get emulators from:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_emulators

There should be a readme file included with the downloads to tell you how to install the application, run it, and read roms.

So I found out yesterday that my Wii has Wii Gator Backup Launcher 3.0 channel installed.

http://www.iol.ie/~taz/wii/WiiHowToGamma.html

I was really surprised when I put in a Maxell DVD I burned at 1x and tried it in the channel, and it worked! I had no idea that there was a soft mod to play backups.

Also, it kinda sucks that I can't access the Wii Shop Channel, but I guess it doesn't matter much since there's only like one or two games I want from there (Paper Mario 64).

My question is: "I already bought a Wiikey 2, so should I install that or just use Wii Gator Backup Launcher instead?" I don't know what to do with my Wiikey 2 now, and I'm not sure if it's legal to sell it online in the US. Should I just use my soft mod, or install the chip? Thanks in advance.

its probly a good idea to have both, If for some reason nintendo blocks the homebrew channel you will still be able to play backups with your wiikey. If you have v4 firmware you cant get the the homebrew channel on your wii at the moment. Im still a big fan of a modchip, they are real easy to install these days aswell & fairly cheap
