Default Is anyone working on a Photo Channel downgrader?

OK, I have Photo Channel 1.0, which can play MP3s. If I send my Wii back to Nintendo and pay to have the GPU and memory card slots repaired, I will likely get it back with Photo Channel 1.1 (AAC added, no MP3 support). I recently bought a second used Wii and it came with Photo Channel 1.1 (comparing it to the first helped me diagnose the GPU problem... too bad I'm out of warranty).

So, we have duplicate channel removers, homebrew channels, IOS37 patched to reintroduce the RSA exploit, and we even have out-right pirated Wii Channels. So much has happened so fast that I have to ask: Has anyone worked on offering a Photo Channel downgrade yet?

Well I guess you never bothered to read the Nintendo site there is no need to write a downgrader all you do is delete the Channel from the Wii Settings menu and it will restore the 1.0 Channel

I've read the information and they said you simply opt out of the upgrade to avoid losing the feature. If deleting it restores the original, it does not on Wiis that shipped with Photo Channel 1.1. The whole point is to avoid license/patent disputes and continuing to include it makes no sense.

my wii is a launch wii and i had 1.0 and upgraded to 1.1 before i found out it could play mp3s, im now on firmware 3.2e and i recently did a wii sytem format and now i cant delete the 1.1 photo channel as it dont show up in the channels options on sd or wii. so if someone is working on a downgrader i would appreciate it aswel, but just thinking the homebrew scene is picking up at the mo so someone will probably create a media channel or something so this wont be needed.

The Media Channel is in the works. I am adding Wiimote support and trying to clean up some code and fix a buffering issue now. It will stream audio and video via network and is based off XBMC with some changes such as I removed the weather features since they come with the Wii in the 1st place. Audio Streams work really nice so it is like having winamp on the Wii. Videa streaming is holding me up a little due to the fact buffering is causing me a few problems once streaming of a file gets over 500MB.

That sounds awesome! I still use XBMC on my original xbox and would love to have something similar on the wii!

Yes it will allow you to play DVDs. I want to release it as a Channel but with all the VC pirating I am almost certian the Big N is going to patch the Trucha bug and then it will require TP Hack to run. As far as it taking longer dont be fooled I have been working on this project for about 4 months now it was going to initially be released in GC mode but so much has happened since then and converting what I had completed from gc to wii mode was not really that hard to do. I may release a beta in the next few weeks for people to test. The controls are in the works and I think most will Enjoy them

A = Play
B = Pause/Resume
- = Previous Song/Chapter
+ = Next Song/Chapter
Dpad Left = Rewind
Dpad Right = Fast Forward
Dpad Up = Change Aspect Ratio (NTSC/PAL/Wide/Standard)
Dpad Down = Change Visual in Audio mode / Change Subtitle in DVD Mode
Home = Settings Menu
1 = Return to Main Menu
2 = Return Previous Menu

As Soon as all the Wiimote mapping/button config code is done I will release v0.1a for testing I sould say maybe 2 weeks or so since I am also working on other projects.

This is amazing news. I'm sure it can, but I'll go ahead and ask: Will it be able to access content on SD as well as discs? What if I have two SD card adapters AND the Wii's SD card for 6GB (or more?) of total SD storage in addition to what I can put on disc?
