Ejecting / Spin-up problems - Another solution to give a try!
Hey guys, Had a Wii come in today that went a bit beyond the typical ejecting problems... This one was almost constant... Take one disc out, sure bet the next one will not go in.
Anyways, played around with it for awhile, tried this and that and the other thing of course... The longer clock wire helped, but then caused longer spin-up times... So figuring the clock wire had everything to do with it, I combined it with another problem part on the D2Pro, the oscillator...
All I did was route the clock wire over the D2Pro oscillator, sure as shit, NO ejecting issues, and NO spin-up issues. 100+ ejects performed, damn thing is cured.
Thinking it was a fluke, I tried the exact same thing on another board with ejecting issues that I saved to troubleshoot one day (But never got around to it). 100+ ejects and this one is working flawlessly also.
For the latter drive, I also shortened the D,E and F wires. Not sure if that had anything to do with fixing it though.
I am not saying this is a sure fire way to fix it, but by all means, if you are having ejecting issues, give this a try and let me know how it went... Confirm or deny my findings guys!
Here is a pic of how the wires are routed.
EDIT: Be sure to make your clock wire 3.75 Inches in length... Longer might be okay, but I know first hand that shorter will still give you problems.
This could be a solution,, i remember having the same problem as u have,, also fixed it with a longer CLK wire. It also passed close to the CLOCK of the D2pro.. I Allways thought the longer wire fixed the problem, but it could be clock... i get one tomorrow and keep u updated. Thanx for sharing the info..
I'm gonna try this too, my Wii has been sitting there waiting for some inspiration since I posted a few weeks ago. It's drive is dead all the time point C is connected (this is all documented in previous post), and the new firmware made no difference at all!

Don't think this will fix your dead drive, however, I have had a few drives that acted dead (Solid red on the D2Pro) and it was caused by a manufacturing defect on the D2Pro. Try touching up the soldering on the oscillator, that fixed both of mine that had that problem... The oscillators are not being soldered properly on some chips.
Hopefully that gets your drive going again, then hey, if you have ejecting issues after you get it working, you know what to try!
Seems to be working well for me as well. Just did an install and immediately after I inserted a disc, I couldnt eject it and had to power cycle the Wii. Routed the CLK wire over the oscillator and all is working fine now.

Mate if this fixes the problem I will be so happy!! Don't remember seeing that mentioned anywhere before, and the symptons are identical! Solid RED on the d2pro and a totally dead drive! Take off the Point C (CLK) wire and the thing is fine.
Can't wait to get the unit back from my mate to try now.. will update with outcome! thanks again (either way) as I thought we had reached the end of the line!
I hope this is getting fixed soon by a new firmware, got lotsof pissed off customers already The brand new D2E blue label D2pro seem to make lotsof troubles here, even on D2C drives. Will try this suggested fix, thanks.
