Default Defective D2Pro+Wiiclip V4C?

UPDATE:

So after contacting Ozmod, they told me the error was caused by the chip being locked to PAL after their testing it on a PAL console. I just now got a replacement, it now works.

Well, or so I think. I can play my copy of Wii Sports fine. But I have a backup of Mario Galaxy, which it recognizes fine...but when trying to play it, it launches fine...but then the game itself tells me there's an error reading the disc. I burned another copy, same deal. Is this a firmware/patching issue?

I have a brand new wii, a G2C D2C, that I bought in April. I recently bought a D2Pro 9wire + Wiiclip V4C pre-soldered by OzModchips.

My install isn't successful.

I can install it fine, but neither the packaged wii sports nor the backup game I have load. They will spin for about 5 seconds, then stop, and I'll get a 'disc cannot be read' error. When I take the clip off, wii sports loads fine. When I put the clip back on, the same problem occurs.

I really don't see what I could be doing wrong. I've been building computers for over a decade with cooling setups that are much complicated and difficult to install than this. This is a brand-new wii and it works fine otherwise. I've reseated the clip multiple times, using even pressure and can definitely feel it click/snap onto the cpu underneath...it's nearly flush with the motherboard at every angle. I've tried using just a small amount of pressure to seat it, and using a -lot- of pressure...same thing.

I've included some pictures and a video to hopefully show better what's going on. You can see that immediately, the red LED flashes once, then the blue LED flashes once. Not sure what that means.

My Wii, opened.

Wii with clip on...odd angle, but I was trying to show how flush it was with the board

Another shot.

And here's a youtube vid of it in action. Notice that when I put the game in, the two leds briefly light up. The red then the blue. Then nothing.

Just get rid of the clip, solder the chip and most likely it will work like a charm.

If you want to continue to use the clip look on their website, they mention shorting a connection and/or soldering a wire when it doesnt work.

And check if no legs of the ic, or some pins in the clip are faulty/have shortened.

try desoldering CLK on the wii-clip and solder point J directly to your wii

Verbatim DVD-R.

I don't have any other media to try with, but if it's able to recognize the game appropriately in the channel selector and able to launch the game (the disc read errors are from the games) could it still be the media?

Actually, I also just launched Metroid Prime 2 (Gamecube game). I was able to get into the menu perfectly fine, save a game...but when I went to start a game, it also gave me a disc read error! wtf

Is it regular Verbatim or is it Verbatim Data Life Plus I remember back on the PS2 people were using regular Verbatim and having problems then switched to Verbatim Data Life Plus and it fixed the problem

Hmm, regular verbatim...guess I'll go get some different media and try them out...

Edit: On a whim I tried Mario Kart Wii USA using the same media, and it works fine! wtf..

Edit x 2: Ok, so I bought some verbatim dvd-rs that were made in India (lol) and my burn of mario galaxy now works fine.
