Default D2Pro Troubleshooting - Read if you are having problems

People seem to be having issues with the D2Pro and D2C2 as well as the regular D2C drive. If you are one of them, please follow these steps first:

1) Check your installation and fix visible issues.

Although you may think it looks good at first, a second, third or nth look should help you see an issue (bridge, wrong point, etc.) you couldn't at first. If there is a short, get rid of it by removing the wires, adding flux and using desoldering braid, if a point is missing, connect it, and so forth.

2) Try other chips.

People seem to be very quick to blame the chip. If that chip doesn't work, try a different one and you will know if the chip is to blame. Also remember that some chips have less tolerance for sloppyness; extremely long wires that work with a D2Ckey install may not work with a D2Pro install (provided you used the same length from point to point, you should get the idea).

3) Use the search function.

Someone might already have your problem and fixed it. Don't waste our time and your own making a new thread, waiting for people to help you when the answer is already there.

4) Try with another working installation.

No matter what you try, if your installation won't work, try swapping with another system. Swap the chips and see if there is a change (this should only be done if the chips are the same, ex. D2Pro v2s on both or D2Pro on both).

5) Ask for help (properly).

Provide useful information for us to help you. We are here to help, and providing us with little to no useful information will only hinder your own work. Typical information your should provide are:
  • chip
  • drive model
  • media used
  • problems experienced
  • frequency of occurrence
  • installation picture (VERY IMPORTANT)

I cannot stress how important installation pictures are. You might miss something one of the forum members can see and help correct the issue. Again, less information, less to work with, less of a chance to get your system working.

Tried step 1, no problem there.
Step 2 , worked like a charm.
Step 3 - Didn't see anyone else with my flashing light issue.
I'll go back to my thread and work on Step 5
