Exclamation D2C board, not moddable with anything?? Including D2C2 compliant D2Pro???

Anyone else having issues with boards that will not take any chips at all?

This board shows the characteristics of being an older D2C board (2nd line of text under the D2C)... So I started the install with a regular D2Pro9... Wouldn't work... Tried a D2Pro9 with SPI Add-on, still nothing... Tried the D2C2 compliant D2Pro, still nothing.

There are no rogue solder balls or anything of the sort. It was a quick and easy install as always, hard to mess up a 9 wire install after doing so many D2CKeys and D2Pro 19 wires

The D2Pro9 would give the inching drive eject problem, the D2C2 compliant chip would do nothing at all. Originals load up fine with the chip taken off.

Is there another board revision kicking around that I am unaware of?

UPDATE :

Anyone having this problem, it is NOT due to a new board revision. There are a very small amount of defective D2Pro V2s kicking around. The fix is easy. Simply touch up the solder on the Oscillator and the resistor to the right of it... That should fix the chip. Here is a pic of the area you will need to touch up if you are having these symptoms.

Also, D2C boards with the 2nd line of text are shipping out as D2C2 boards, so if you see the second line of text, that now means nothing as it may not be moddable with a regular D2Pro.

What are the first few digits of the serial? It has to be install related or something, especially if it is an older one. Never had that on them.

LU34527****

I wish it were install related man, but I can assure you, it is not. I have tried about 6 different chips on this thing... The inching drive problem seems to happen with the D2C2 boards with a non D2C2 compliant chip... So going by the chip, it has the characteristics of a D2C2 not a regular D2C.

The chips I have tried are all 9 wire, I am going to do a 19 on it and see if I get any joy.

Oh my god... I thought it was just me, Wes.

I have two drives sitting on my desk... identical situation. They look like regular D2C's (second line of writing), but won't take any chip... again, either inching drive on D2Pro, or nothing on D2C2-Pro. I thought I was nuts.

I swapped in replacement drives just to get them out the door, but am stuck on what to do next.

Both of these drives have LU343 serials.

Those serials are in the "newer wii" range. I sure hope there are not even more unmoddables out there. I have had 3 different symptoms of "unmoddables", and it would be awful if the d2pro team only fixed one of them, and there are still more out there I have over 10 to do tonight when I get home from work that were "unmoddable", so hopefully tonight will not be wasted on unmoddables, it will make me look bad to the customers too

Shit... Well this really doesn't look too good guys...

Tried a 19 wire. She fired up, then died, with backups and originals... Pretty sure the 19 wire installs did the same thing with the D2C2 boards.

Well Mike, your not alone buddy I did the same thing, I swapped boards with the customer to get him out the door... So here I am, spending at least 6 hours now throwing everything I can at this damn thing just to get nothing, every single time...

And Avenger, with these Wiis you have lined up, try the regular first, try the D2C2 compatible after that, if that doesn't work, I honestly wouldn't waste any more time than that, because that is exactly what you will be doing after that point. Hope you don't get any

All the ones I have lined up I have previously tried with a regular d2pro9 to deem them unmoddable (d2c2). I hope the new d2c2 chips work fine. Only time can tell though.

I know it's no solace, but at least these D2Pro9's can be installed in about 10 minutes... so the time expended isn't too terrible.

Mmm. Doesn't sound too good.
I think Nintendo have gone and chucked a whole lot of small variations in these new drives to mess with mods.

Make sure you keep the drives in good condition, the maker of the modchips are going to need them.

is LU34527 a very high serial number?
