Thing is, I've never soldered before. I do normally like to be self sufficient and not buy things pre-packaged but dont like the idea of FUBARing my Wii...not sure how much skill it would take although I'm normally good with my hands.

Also, WiiClip is removeable if it ever became necessary to do so (ie something breaks and I need it repaired) And I'd have to buy a solder most likely unless I use my grandads but i'm not sure if it's a 15W. Nevertheless, now you've mentioned it, I checked it out and the 5 wire does look fairly simple ie no soldering onto the chip, just onto the easier to get to solder points, so might actually give it a go when I work out if i'm capable of it. Thanks for the help ppl

is there any downside to using a clip as opposed to soldering?

4. yes, 1.1b is the latest update, and thats what will be on there
5. the SPI flash, yes. The actel chip isnever upgradable
6. thts correct, all the ones that i have done at fine when they are 100% solderless
7. Well thats all relative really. I would be lieing if I said it was better then getting someone experieced to solder it for you. But the failure rate is very very very long, after we confirm they are working and booting backups

Prices are in AUD
with the free shipping, it ends up being $85 aud i think. $90 if you want a triwing.

1. You will ship d2pro9 presoldered to clip v4c
2. It will be tested and working with D2C
3. It will be region free.
4. You can send it preflashed with the new firmware (1.1?) so I don't need a programmer right now and can postpone buying it for the next update (for whatever nintendo's tricks releasing new unplayable game in the future)
5. It will be DVD updatable.
6. No messing with the CLK etc (see #2)
7. The setup, clip etc is reliable.
before i order im in canada with a d2c wii and got a few more questions for you ozmodchips

1.) how long will it take to ship to Canada, on average?
2.) Just to confirm i will not need to soild point J on the wii motherboard?
3.) Will it come with the 1.3 firmware?

P.S

5. the SPI flash, yes. The actel chip is never upgradable

I do not quite understand, dose this mean that i can update the firmware on the SPI from 1.1b to 1.3 with a dvd, but to update the actel chip i would still need the jtag programmer or that can never get updated? i always thought the jtag programmer is to update the actel chip!!

if youre in canada you can also order from us
1. since were already in canada 0 days
2. nope the v4c was our idea to use the alt J point so it could be 100% solderless
3. since its a d2pro9 its not 1.3 firmware, it would be the latest from factory that is d2c2 compliant as well.
For spi flash you can use the dvd, for the actel chip you can use the jtag programmer, however there is a possibility that information can be sent to the spi to program the actel (not sure if it can be done, but I know some older modchips on the ps2 worked a similar method to update the actel).

K, I've read the 7 pages and still confused about using on a 5-wire install. Do you need to not connect C,D,E and F to the wiiclip to work on a DMS/D2A/D2B or can you just use the fully soldered clip and it won't matter. Doesn't matter to me, I just want to know when i get some from CanadaMods.ca if I should do some with only the 5 pins soldered and some with the 9 pins soldered or just solder them all and plug and play?

yeah i would not mind ordering from you guys but im still not sure about point J ozmodchips says in his post that it will be 100% solderless. I need 100% solderless guarantee to work on my d2c wii. but you guys say

nope as in i WILL NOT need to soild point J to the motherboard
or
nope as in you HAVE to soild point J to the motherboard

and as my understanding from you point above is that it COULD be 100% solderless and you guys just prefer to use the alt J point on your install, . From what i have read the only reason to update the actel chip is to reduce the number of wire used by the mod chip. correct me if im wrong

so as far as i can tell you guys will ship with the 1.1b firmware which is dvd upgradable and when the official release come next week i will be able to update via dvd without the need of the d2prog Correct? the reason i ask this is because i don't want to buy the d2prog if i can update via dvd.

another thing is that how much will it cost with shipping and everything because ozmodchips is giving free shipping and that why i leaning to ward him. In total it will cost me $85.00 - $90.00 Canadian if i order from ozmodchips so if you can offer me that then you got yourself a deal.

sorry but i just want to clear these points before i order.
