Wii WBFS Manager 2.2

EDIT:
The latest released version will always be available at wbfsmanager.codeplex.com (click the Downloads link and select the appropriate version). At the moment that is the same version as the one posted here.
The source code has not yet been uploaded, but once I've got it cleaned up a bit, I'll be releasing the source code as well (it'll be available under the source code tab.)

Language Pack
-A German language pack for WBSF Manager 2.2.2 is now available courtesy of BarbaxX.
-Chinese language has now been added, courtesy of IvanChen. In order to use the Chinese version, uninstall WBFS Manager, then download and install ChineseEdition-x86 (for 32-bit Windows) or ChineseEdition-x64 (for 64-bit Windows).
I’ve tested this by installing Chinese on my Windows, so it should work

In order to enable German language support in WBFS Manager 2.2.2, download the German Language Pack, extract the zip file and copy the "de" folder into Program Files\WBFS\WBFS Manager 2.2.2 (or \Programme\WBFS\WBFS Manager 2.2.2).

PATCH:
EDIT 2: Wow, the Chinese support is really giving me a hard time Ok, if your using a Chinese OS, Uninstall WBFS Manager 2.2.2. Then, go to "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\" (in Windows Vista and 7) or "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data" (in Windows XP) and delete the WBFSManager folder. Then, follow the instructions below (install PatchForChinese-x86.zip or x64.zip by running setup.exe)

EDIT: Apparently the Windows Installer patching mechanism is having some issues, so I'm just going to release a full installer for WBFS Manager 2.2.2 that includes the Chinese fix. To download the fixed version for Chinese, just download the PatchForChinese-x86.zip or x64.zip, then uninstall all WBFS Manager versions, then install the setup.exe in PatchForChinese-x86.zip or x64.zip. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I've released a patch for users with a Chinese operating system. To install the patch download the 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the patch depending on your operating system version and run the WBFSManager2.2.msp file. Click "Repair WBFS Manager". WBFS Manager should now work for Chinese OSes.
Note: Make sure you have WBFS Manager 2.2.2 installed first. This will not work on 2.2.1.

UPDATE:
I've done an in-place update to WBFS Manager 2.2.2 which makes the changes listed below. You don't need to update to 2.2.2 from 2.2.1 if you don't plan on using the multilingual support (or if you're using French and Spanish translations). This update is mainly intended for addition of languages in the future through the release of "language packs". Languages in the works include Chinese and Polish.

Changes (2.2.2):
-Improved multilingual support (can now add more languages by dropping "language packs" into the application's directory).
-Added Dutch support.

EDIT:
For those of you having issues starting WBFS Manager, please make sure your using "Run as Administrator" for Win Vista and 7.
Also, if the program is crashing at startup with a message saying "This program has stopped working...", the reason for this 99% of the time is that your .NET FW version is 3.5 instead of 3.5 SP1. Please note, theres a significant difference between these two. To avoid problems, allow the setup to install .NET 3.5 SP1 for you. If you don't want to do that, please use the following correct link for .NET 3.5 SP1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Also, if your having issues with drive detection check this thread courtesy of KarlK23.

EDIT:
There was a stupid mistake in the installer which resulted in the boot.dol and icon.png files being put in the wrong folder during installation. As a result if you try to create an HBC entry you'll get an error. To fix this, go to "Program Files\WBFS\WBFS Manager 2.2.1" and create a new folder called HBC. Copy, dont move, the boot.dol and icon.png files to the HBC folder you created. That should do it.
I've since fixed and uploaded the installer to put it in the correct folder, so if your downloading it from this point onward don't worry about this.

UPDATE:
An in-place update had been done to address the following problems so please redownload and reinstall:
-Fixed the libwbfs delete bug.
-Added functionality to help debug the "crash on startup" situations, namely what tommyv and kruy are facing.
-Added Spanish language support, coutesy of dgtor.

UPDATE:
Replaced the two download links with a new set with two additional features:
-Automatic cover downloading (You will be prompted the first time you run the program if you want to enable or disable this. You can also change this setting later from the Edit->Download Covers from Web menu). Please be a bit patient, it takes a couple of seconds to download as the site is somewhat slow. While it's downloading you'll see a placeholder image which will be automatically updated once the download is complete.
-Region code information
-Changed default location for covers to My Documents\WBFS Manager Covers for better UAC compliance.

Wii Backup File System Manger 2.2 (WBFS Manager 2.2)
Written by AlexDP

32-bit version

64-bit version

This is a minor update to WBFS Manager, with the following fixes and changes.

Fixes (2.2):
-Kept error messages from appearing when adding multiple files. If an error occurs, the entry will be marked with a red error symbol in the Games to Add list and a tooltip with the error message will appear if you hover the mouse over the icon.

Changes (2.2):
-Added multilingual support (currently only French, courtesy of TheCrach), contact me if you'd like to add support for your language.
-Added Hombrew Channel creation (not completely tested).
-Added Cover support. Hover mouse over an entry to see the cover.
-Now defaults the selected drive in the drive combo box to the last used drive.
-Item counts for both lists.
-Added Check for Updates to Help menu. Currently only links to WBFS Manager blog which will list updates. Plan to implement proper updater later to help everyone keep up to date.

Cover file instructions:
Copy covers into the My Documents\WBFS Manager Covers directory to show them in WBFS Manager
OR
Set your own cover directory from the Edit Menu in WBFS Manager (Edit->Set Covers Directory...).
Covers can be disabled by unchecking the Show Covers option (Edit->Show Covers).
Covers can be in subdirectories.
If you use set your own cover directory, that directory will be checked first, then this directory.
Cover files must be named as follows: DISCID.png where DISCID is the 6 letter disc ID for a given game. For example, Wii Sports cover would be: RSPE01.png
If your looking for cover files try: www.theotherzone.com/wii/search.php

Multilingual support details:
WBFS Manager will automatically use the language of your operating system if it is one of the supported languages. If you'd like to manually change the language you can do so from the Edit->Language menu.
Contact me at wbfsmanager { at } gmail.com if you'd like to add support for your language to WBFS Manager.

Fixes (2.1):
-No black screen while adding or extracting. Application remains responsive and reports progress.
-Fixed issue with size information being covered by scroll bars.
-A few other minor fixes.

Changes (2.1):
-Added rename functionality (thanks to Sorg).
-Application now directly uses libwbfs, rather than using wbfs_win.exe.
-Added icons for better usability.
-Added list sorting functionality (right click on each list for the different sort options.
-Added blocks used to status bar.
-Added visual indicators to "Games to add" list. Check mark if the iso was copied successfully, red error symbol if the copying the iso failed.
-Changed "size" label to "estimated size" in the "Games to add" list. Added iso size information. Reported estimated sizes are still estimates and may be significantly different from actual size on WBFS drive. Sizes on the "Games on WBFS drive" list are accurate.
-Added first time welcome screen with basic instructions.
-Added "Refresh Drive List" button in case a USB drive was not plugged in when the program started. Clicking Refresh Drive List should show USB drives that were plugged in after WBFS Manager started.
-Added support for dropping a folder instead of one or more iso files. All iso files in the dropped folder and its subdirectories will automatically be added.
-Added progress bars and an activity indicator to indicate the program is running and has not crashed to Windows XP users.

Note: There is no shared code with the other wbfs_win GUI apps that have been released.
The wbfs_win.exe from the wbfs_win_delta release is also no longer being used by this application. It now uses a cleaner, less hacky way of using the libwbfs source code for direct manipulation.

Note 2: Although I've tested this a good deal it's only the first release and it may have some bugs. If you notice any let me know. For the most part everything should be ok as the actual work with the ISOs and WBFS drive are done in libwbfs. Of course, pulling your USB cable out while copying files isn't going to help.

Requirements:
-.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (the installer will prompt you to automatically download and install it if you don't already have it.)

Supported Operating Systems:
-Windows Vista (tested thoroughly. May need to "Run as Administrator" depending on user's settings and UAC settings).
-Windows 7 (tested and working. May need to "Run as Administrator" depending on user's settings and UAC settings).
-Windows XP (tested by a few other users, should work fine.)

What it does:
This application basically provides a GUI for the command line-based wbfs-win, used for accessing legal Wii Backups stored on disk drives that have been formatted to the WBFS file system.
It provides all the basic functionality that comes with wbfs-win, including formatting to wbfs, adding backups, getting a listing of backups already on the drive, extracting ISOs from the WBFS drive, etc.

Features:
-Listing of games with titles, sizes and codes.
-Drag-and-drop support for adding multiple files at once to the WBFS drive.
-Easy to use interface which also reports available, total and used disk space at a glance.
-Batch processing of multiple ISOs.
-Rename discs on the WBFS drive.
-Multilingual support (only French for now, courtesy of TheCrach)
-Homebrew Channel entry creation

Instructions:
-Install using setup.
-Plug in the hard drive or USB stick.
-Run the application.
-Choose the correct drive letter.
-Click Load. (If you haven't already formatted the disk to WBFS, you can do that by clicking Format).
-You should now see any backups on the drive on the left hand side.
-You can drag and drop ISO files from Windows Explorer onto the right hand side or you can click the browse button.
-Click the Add to Drive button to copy them over to the WBFS drive.
-Enjoy!

Completed Future Plans:
-Using libwbfs directly to achieve greater flexiblity.
-Use a separate worker thread to improve responsiveness when doing IO operations.

Remaining Future Plans:
-ISO library
-Additional info from ISO (Game image shown in Disc Channel,...)
-UnRar functionality to automatically UnRar files and add the iso to the WBFS drive.

As mentioned the HBC entry creator hasn't been tested very much, meaning I haven't tried adding many HBC entries to my SD card and tried them out on the Wii. Please let me know if you do so and it works or fails.
Thanks.

I should mention that the next release will be 3.0 (unless there are some issues with 2.2) which will include any of the features which I mentioned I'd add but aren't in this one, namely:
-Drive to drive transfer/Drive cloning
-Batch Extract
-Channel creation (is there a way to do this without extracting WADs? let me know if so)
-Automatic UnRaring and addition.
-Extract and compress to Zip.
-Game banners.

I also mentioned I'd be changing the installer software that I use to something more complete so that I can give you the option to not put shortcuts on your desktop and start menu, as well as give you the option not to install .NET 3.5 SP1 (in which case you wouldn't be able install WBFS Manager). I do plan on doing this for 3.0, and was looking to do it for 2.2, but I'm having some trouble finding one that supports these features (strangely enough).

Great release. A couple of GUI suggestions.

1) Automatic "list" command on drive selection
2) Hide the format button and keep it in the menu only. It's safer that way, and most people only need it once anyway.
3) Double click a game to rename

I've got some code that will allow automatic downloading of cover images from www.theotherzone.com/wii and use it in WBFS Manager. Should I keep it for the next release (which might not be very soon) or should I release it earlier? Any interest in such a feature?

It would be great to have a function that renames the original ISO file in addition to the renaming function for only the WBFS that is already in the program.

Hey AlexDP,

don't worry about those game covers!
It's really a GREAT idea. But take your time to include it properly into your next big release. No hassle about releasing it asap! :-)

Guess everyone can wait until you have it in the version it is supposed to have...

Another probably even more important feature could be the 'fix' for deleting games again which is said to be able to corrupt other still installed titles as well.

If THERE might be a solution soon it would make a pre-BIG release even more valuable and useful in my eyes.

Just my two cents here... :-)

Last but not least I'd second those few suggestions from Knocks, too!

So I added it in and updated the download links cause it was already prepared and working. I retested on all my VMs and my own physical machines and everything seems to work fine.
I definitely agree that once the delete issue has been definitively found an update is necessary.
Also regarding Knocks suggestions, while they're good suggestions, I haven't done them for the following reasons:
1) As I mentioned in the first thread for WBFS Manager 1.0, I wouldn't personally like a program to "touch" all my drives everytime (even once for that matter), even if it is only reading data. It's not really a nice thing to do. As such I haven't added that in and won't be.
2) The format button shows a confirmation prompt when you click it, so the user can cancel out of it if needed. Some people are having problems realizing that they need to format so I've left that in, at least for now. I may take it out in 3.0.
3) Double-clicking a game to rename is a nice concept but it doesn't really match well with what Windows users expect when they double click something. It's somewhat counter-intuitive to do a rename by double clicking. Clicking and then clicking again but with a delay is what's used in Windows Explorer, and I may well add that in, but it requires a bit of work. So look for that in 3.0
