you are forgetting that the average person had difficulty with technology. sometimes my mom needs help turning the home theater system on. My dad needed help making menus in word. people are non technical. my parents have never burnt so much as a CD in their life.

Softmods require you to do something tricky with every boot. besides doing it, they need to get the games. That involves dumping, downloading, or something, and burning. the games must be burnt onto high quality media. the pot might need to be adjusted. You need a decent burner too. You have to worry about the program you use, and the speed you record at. You might have to unscrub, trucha sign, etc. You have to worry about nintendo updates and the new patches everytime. You have to be afraid of being banned from the WFC.

most of these problems exist with hard mods too, but people doing hard mods are natually technical. softmods are just for the same people with hard mods who want to use ISO loaders or something and save money on DVDs.

and you know what? even if someone doesn't buy a single game, nintendo makes plenty of money on the hardware. Do you think nunchuks and classic controllers cost 20 bucks to make? I have one wii guitar, 4 wiimote, 4 nunchuks, and two classics. I will get some motionpluses and another wii guitar. Maybe a wiifit someday. i spent money on wiipoints.

how about used games, like seriously. what if someone only buys used games? what if they only buy games on sale? after steep price reductions? after the wii 2 comes out? no one is claiming those are immoral, but they don't help the develipers as much.
