Custom firmware is pointless. The only reason to do it is to allow booting of homebrew software... which we can do already. We don't need custom firmware, when we have access to the entire official firmware as it is. However, my issue with this software doesn't come from it being useless, that's just ONE of the complaints against it. The problem here is that the software is DANGEROUS to use with your wii. You're physically deleting the operating system. There are BETTER ways that a downgrade can be accomplished without being this invasive to your system.

Think of it this way. All wankydodo here did was release a program that formats your C:\ and then installs the original Windows XP before any of the service packs or patches came out for it. The only difference here, is that if the formatting, or the installation of windows XP fails, all you're out is your C:\ and you can install fresh. If it fails on your wii it is NOT recoverable. At all. You have a permanent brick.

Sure, if you have an infectus and a backup of your firmware you can fix it, but that requires you to modify your console's hardware. Not something most homebrewers are willing to deal with. This is a dangerous, invasive, and totally unneccessary hack. Now, if you have an infectus and can backup/replace your firmware with that... why the fuck are you running some shitty software from this clown?

As for my own personal character? Yes, I'm an asshole. I'm out spoken. I am opinionated. Sure, a lot of people here might not like me (and I honestly don't give a fuck).

I get paid to develop software for a living. I write code that gets installed on mutli-million dollar enterprise servers. If I went and wrote something like Wankydodo that had ANY chance of breaking one of those systems my code gets run on, do you really think I'd still have a job? Fuck no.

There's a difference between a code monkey and a real software developer. Anyone can write code. Anyone can do shit like he does. Do you know what the sign of a good developer is? Someone who cares about the systems his software is run on. Someone who spends time making sure his code is right and doing everything in the safest way possible.

As for the pet rock? I had a good idea like that once too. It was called a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it'd be this mat right? And it'd have a bunch of "conclusions" on it that you could "jump" to. It's brilliant.
