Its important to remember that just because someone says something is illegal, or you are told not to do something in terms and conditions, does not make it automatically law.

I reckon we are well within our rights to hack the wii and put custom programs on it, providing they don't breach copyright.

Nintendo can stop these hacks from working, but if they brick our wii's because of them, and it can be proven deliberate, they could have a lawsuit on their hands.

If they do block these programs from working, its no biggie, because there are many ways to skin a cat, and many ways to hack a wii. I am confident that when trucha eventually gets patched, new alternatives will arise, but people are reluctant to announce these prematurely, as nintendo will only block them sooner.
